Del Rapids K wins 3 of 4 at I-29 tournament

Dell Rapids K won three of four games in last week’s I-29 A Teeners League Tournament but failed to make it to the final round.
Dell Rapids K started the tournament with a 4-3 victory over Dell Rapids M Tuesday, June 17 at Volunteer Field.
Ty Hoglund pitched six strong innings to pick up the win. He gave up three hits, one earned run and struck out 12. He also walked five batters and hit a batter.
Trey Randel closed the game out to earn the save when he struck out two of three batters.
Offensive leaders for Dell Rapids K were Joel Brust and Trevor Pulscher. Brust drove in a run on a 3 for 4 night. Pulscher hit a double.
Dells K 16, Flandreau 3
Dell Rapids K pounded Flandreau with 16 runs in five innings while solid pitching held the Fliers to just three runs of their own Friday in Salem during the second round of the tournament.
Dell Rapids K jumped out to a hot start with seven runs in the first inning and never looked back.
On a day where almost everyone contributed, Hoglund stood out with a 2 for 3 performance at the plate and two runs batted in. He also drew a walk.
Lathon Gorospe scored twice for Dell Rapids K and drew two walks. He also got on base with a hit.
Pulscher earned the win on the mound with four innings of work. He gave up one hit and no earned runs and struck out five.
Reese Warne pitched one innings, struck out three, walked four and gave up three earned runs.
Dells K 9, Volga 8
A 9-8 squeaker during the third round Saturday in Canova against Volga ended in Dell Rapids K’s favor after Hoglund crushed a two-run homer in the bottom of the sixth inning for the walk-off win.
Hoglund also had a triple and scored four times during his three-RBI performance.
Trey Randel picked up the win with six innings of work on the mound. He struck out 10 batters, walked five and gave up four hits and three earned runs.
Madison Gold 3, Dells K 1
Dell Rapids K fell 3-1 to Madison Saturday in Salem.
In the loss, Pulscher pitched three strong innings, followed by two innings of work from Warne.
Dell Rapids K batters struck out 11 times.
Despite winning three of four, Dell Rapids K didn’t score enough runs to win a tie-breaker scenario and make it to Sunday’s final round.
