Post 65 wins 4 of 6 with strong pitching, timely hitting

Dell Rapids Post 65 spanked Aurora 12-2 Monday, June 2 to pick up the win at Rickeman Field.
Post 65 scored in four of seven innings but really sealed the victory in the sixth inning when they broke through with six runs.
Riley Schmidt picked up the win for Dell Rapids. He threw six innings and struck out seven batters. He gave up three hits and two earned runs.
Schmidt helped his cause with a 3 for 4 day at the plate. Cody Nielsen hit a double and a two-run homerun to lead Post 65, and Ryan Geraets had a pair of singles in two at-bats.
Post 65 3, Humboldt 0
Nielsen dominated Humboldt with a shutout 3-0 win Wednesday, June 9 in Humboldt.
Nielsen picked up his first win of the year with a 10-strikeout performance in five innings of work. The triple-sport athlete gave up one hit and walked four batters. Post 65 earned just five hits in the seven-inning contest. But when men were on base, they took advantage
Schmidt, Nielsen, Nathan Klein, Austin Kubly and Beau Carpenter all had one hit each. Mitch Roemen picked up the two-inning save for Dell Rapids by retiring all six batters he faced.
"We are playing some great baseball right now,” said Jordan Solberg, Post 65 head coach. “We have a very talented and deep team. It is great to see players coming off the bench and doing an excellent job.”
Post 65 17, Flandreau 6
Flandreau fell victim to Post 65 Monday, June 9 in a 17-6 beating at the Fliers’ park.
Roemen picked up the win with a complete game performance in which he struck out 10 Flandreau batters. Adam Karst had a double and scored four runs to lead Dell Rapids offensively. Schmidt and Carpenter each had three hits.
Luverne 14, Post 65 8
Dell Rapids’ hot streak was dashed Monday, June 9 when Luverne scored six runs in extra innings to down Post 65 14-8 in Flandreau. Joe Muston led the Dell Rapids offense with two hits and two runs batted in.
Post 65 7, Scotland 2
Nielsen went 2 for 2 and scored four times to lead Dell Rapids past Scotland 7-2 Saturday in Scotland.
Muston went 3 for 4 and scored twice for Post 65, and Klein had three hits.
Roemen picked up the win by throwing another complete game, striking out nine and giving up four hits.
Lennox 4, Post 65 0
Dell Rapids bats went cold as Post 65 left 11 runners stranded and fell 4-0 to Lennox Saturday in Scotland.
Post 65 got two hits from both Zachary Schroeder and Klein. Nielsen picked up the loss despite striking out 10 batters in four innings.
“We were short handed on Saturday but played some good baseball,” Solberg said.
