City officials are pumping the breaks on plans for a community garden due to a lack of interest.
City administrator Justin Weiland said only two Dell Rapids residents have inquired about obtaining a plot in the garden since plans were made public in January.
“The biggest thing is that it’s community driven,” he said at the city council meeting Monday, May 19. “My thought is, we got the word out there. Let’s spend the next year trying to build some steam and see if we can get more interested parties before we go out there tilling up soil this year and spending a thousand bucks to put a water line out there for two people.”
