Baltic boys win Tri-Valley Conference track title

The Baltic girls track and field team nabbed three Tri-Valley Conference event championships and a fourth-place finish Tuesday, May 13 in Baltic.
Baltic senior Allie Walter threw her way to a conference championship in the shot with a put of 36 feet 9.5 inches. Her teammate Haley Fockler took third with a put of 33 feet 8.5 inches, and Taylor Van Dam finished fifth with a put of 31 feet 3.25 inches.
Bulldog Makay Paszek was fastest in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:02.68. Madison Polzin wasnít far behind in the third-place spot and a time of 1:03.81.
Balticís 1600-meter relay team was the conferenceís best with a time of 4:26.82.
Polzin finished second in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:29.18, and seventh in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 18.91 seconds.
The 800-meter relay team took second with a time of 1:56.26.
Mariah Hanisch finished third for Baltic in the long jump with a jump of 14 feet seven inches.
In the 100-meter dash, Walter finished third with a time of 13.06 seconds.
Paszek finished fourth for the Bulldogs with a time of 28.82 seconds.
The 400-meter team took fourth with a time of 56.76 seconds.
Rachel Abersonís discus throw of 83 feet seven inches was good enough for sixth place.
Big East meet
At the Big East Conference Meet Friday in Garretson Walter won another title in the shot. Her put of 37 feet 2.5 inches was more than four feet longer than her closest competitor.
Fockler took third in the shot with a put of 32 feet three inches.
Walter finished third in the 100m dash with a time of 13.4 seconds.
Polzin finished second in the 800m run with a time of 2:30.6.
In the 1600m relay, Baltic earned a second-place spot with a time of 4:21.4.
Hanisch took second in the long jump with a mark of 14 feet 6.5 inches.
The Bulldog girls finished fifth with 65 points.

The Bulldogsí strongest event came in the 400-meter dash when they swept all three podium spots. Balticís Nate Stadem was fastest of any competitor with a time of 54.05 seconds. Kyler Johnson was a hair behind in the second-place slot with a time of 54.78 seconds, and Joe Weber finished third for the Bulldogs with a time of 55.99 seconds.
Johnsonís triple jump of 39 feet 2.75 inches was good enough for the conference title, and Balticís Nick Weber took the conference championship in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.82 seconds. Nick Weber did it again in the high jump with a mark of six feet.
The Bulldogís 400-meter relay team was fastest with a time of 47.04 seconds, and in the 1600-meter relay they were best with a time of 3:42.89.
Baltic took top honors in the sprint medley with a time of 4:07.92.
Johnson took another second-place finish in the long jump with a distance of 18 feet 10 inches.
In the 800-meter relay the Bulldogs were second with a time of 1:41.85.
Andrew Mork finished third in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:13.67, and Stadem was fifth in the event with a time of 2:17.72.
In the 100-meter dash Austin Row ended in third place for Baltic with a time of 11.10 seconds.
In the 200-meter dash Row finished third with a time of 23.73 seconds, and Lukas Jensen took fifth with a time of 24.14 seconds.
Big East meet
At the Big East Conference meet Friday in Garretson the Bulldog boys finished sixth with 62 points behind another strong day by Row.
Row finished second in the 100m dash with a time of 11.4 seconds.
He anchored the sprint medley team to a first-place time of 3:47.7. Other runners on the winning team were Joe Weber, Johnson and Stadem.
Nick Weber finished second in the high jump with a mark of five feet 10 inches.
The Bulldogs relay teams in the 1600m and 3200m events finished with third-place spots.
