Lady Quarriers win seven events in Flandreau

Dell Rapids got a few impressive performances from a handful of Quarrier girls at the Flandreau Invitational Track and Field Meet Saturday, April 26 in Flandreau.
In the 100-meter dash, Iliene Jaycox took first place for Dell Rapids with a run of 13 seconds.
Cheyenne Spielmann earned a first-place finish for the Quarriers in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:45.4.
Maddie Vietor took meet championships in the long jump and triple jump. Her long jump of 16 feet 3.25 inches was best, and her triple jump of recorded a distance of 32 feet 6.75 inches.
Brittney Siemonsma was best in the shot and disc with throws of 33 feet 8.5 inches and 87 feet four inches, respectively.
The 1600-meter relay team of Sami Rieder, Hannah Fiedler, Lindsey Morris and Megan Miles was fastest of any team. They recorded a time of 5:00.2.
Kiah Schumacher’s time of 29.4 seconds in the 200-meter dash was second best of any girl, and Jessica Tisher’s triple jump of 31 feet 2.25 inches was also good enough for second.
The 400-meter relay team of Rieder, Schumacher, Morris and Jaycox, the 800-meter relay team of Rieder, Morris, Miles and Schumacher and the 3200-meter relay team of Lexi Snyder, Amanda Tomes, Rieder and Spielmann all earned second-place finishes.
Taking third were Snyder - 1600-meter run, Jaycox - the long jump, Kali Graham - 100m dash, and the medley relay team of Schumacher, Arial Hoffman, Fielder and Snyder.
No team points were kept. Competing in Flandreau were student-athletes from Flandreau, Flandreau Indian School, Dell Rapids, Deuel, Sioux Valley and Pipestone Area.
Terry Bong Invite
Maintaining the momentum gained in Flandreau, Dell Rapids snagged a second-place finish at the Terry Bong Invitational Thursday in Canton. The Quarrier girls scored 777 points in the True-Team scored event.
Vietor earned the triple jump championship with a jump of 34 feet 3.5 inches, and Mikaela Stofferahn took first in the discus with a toss of 110 feet 11 inches.
Siemonsma placed second in the shot with a put of 34 feet 4.5 inches, and the Quarriers’ 400m-relay team placed third with a time of 55.778 seconds.
Competing against girls from 31 other schools, Stofferahn took third for Dell Rapids in the girls discus throw Friday at the O’Gorman Invitational in Sioux Falls. Her toss went 113 feet three inches.
Lady Quarriers Schumacher, Hoffman, Miles and Shaylee Hoff took fifth in the 800m relay with a time of 1:59.94.
Stofferahn and Siemonsma rounded out the top 10 in the open shot with puts of 34 feet 11 inches and 34 feet, respectively.
