Spring is a joyous time for renewal

Spring brings a renewal to everyone and everything. It is wonderful to see the sun and feel the warmer air. We celebrate Easter with the hope of new beginnings. It is a joyous time.
We know that everything growing will show through and prove that it can live again. This gives us hope for all of our wishes, whatever they might be.
It was such a wonderful time when our children were younger and we anticipated Easter Sunday. Sometimes grandparents would come to join us for dinner, or we would go to Egan to their homes.
We all wore our best clothes that were saved for church. Kim always had a frilly dress, cute hat, little white gloves and patent leather shoes. Doug and Scott wore nice trousers, shirts, and sometimes a new spring coat. Scott even wore a “big man’s” hat. We still have that somewhere.
Our lab dog, Goldie, would follow the kids to Sunday school and lay outside the window looking into the basement ,where she could watch them. She was a great dog.
I would cook hard-boiled eggs the night before, then the kids would paint and decorate them.
While they were in Sunday school, Dave and I would hide them in our yard.
The Easter bunny always came and left baskets with lots of chocolate goodies, or sometime he would leave cute stuffed animals and other gifts.
I would start dinner, usually a ham and trimmings, so all was ready after church. But first, the kids hunted for their eggs.
I hope some of these traditions are still being carried on.
I know that we miss those days so very much, and realize that they go by so very, very fast.
So, with a new renewal, even if you march to the beat of a different drum, I hope everyone knows the true meaning of the Easter holiday. And I hope your day is very special with lots of love and hope.
So, faith, hope and love abide. The greatest of these is love.
