A thumping of Mount Vernon-Plankinton ended with a 70-45 win for the Quarriers Tuesday, Feb. 11 in Mt. Vernon.
The Quarriers charged out of the gate, taking a 23-12 lead after one quarter.
“Offensively, we were able to hit some shots early in the game, and our posts went strong to the basket and finished well at the rim,” said Jason Fersdahl, Dell Rapids head coach.
The Quarriers shot 56 percent from the field.
“Our offensive execution was very good tonight, and our high shooting percentage reflected our good ball movement,” Fersdahl said.
Nielsen and Hoglund each had 16 points to lead Dell Rapids. White added 12.
Dell Rapids big man Ben Hammer had seven blocks.
“Ben did a tremendous job of protecting the basket,” Fersdahl said.
