Fall enrollment for the Dell Rapids School District is up slightly from a year ago.
District superintendent Summer Schultz recently shared enrollment data with school board. The 919 students enrolled in the district, grades kindergarten through 12, are up from 913 in the fall of 2012.
The figures include students who might not be enrolled in the district, whether it be through open enrollment or otherwise.
The up tick could be short lived. The senior class this year is the district’s largest class – 84 students are expected to graduate this spring. But Schultz said predictors indicate steady growth over the long term.
“We had to add that fourth section of kindergarten, and I think with the new elementary school, you are only going to see an increase,” she said.
