Dells-Baltic baseball goes 2 for 3 to finish regular season
The two runs scored by the Dell Rapids-Baltic baseball team in the first inning of its contest with West Central, Thursday, May 2 was all the offense needed to get the late season win. DR-B held on to win 3-0 versus West Central in Humboldt.
Tanner Solberg led off the game with a double and scored due to a throwing error on a sacrifice bunt by Spencer Kerzman. Matt Kolbeck doubled to the wall on the next pitch to score Kerzman and DR-B led 2-0 just four pitches into the game.
West Central tightened up its pitching and defense and only allowed two more hits in the game – both in the fifth inning. DR-B made the most of its opportunity when Joe Muston singled, stole second and scored on a Solberg single.
DR-Baltic was even stingier on defense. Cody Nielsen pitched the first five innings and allowed only one hit, a double by Joe Hanisch in the third. Nielsen struck out 10 and walked four. Mitch Roemen recorded the final six outs to earn a save. He walked one, struck out one and gave up no hits.

DR-B (5-2) got off to a fast start. Kerzman retired the first six batters he faced. Then DR-B scored four runs in the top of the third inning thanks in part to four Garretson errors and three walks.
