Quarriers continue to clear high-set bar

The Dell Rapids boys track and field team dominated the competition at the Beresford Alcester-Hudson meet Tuesday, April 16 in Beresford and earned another first place team finish.
With podium finishes by Dell Rapids athletes in 11 events, the Quarriers’ 147 points on the day was more than enough to secure the meet championship.
Dell Rapids’ senior Cole Langer had a big day, taking home top finishes in the discus and shot put. He had throws of 166-10 and 53-5.5 respectively.
Also helping Dells widen the margin were Zach White, Spencer Kerzman and Alec Riswold. The trio swept the high jump for the Quarriers. White jumped 6-2, Kerzman 6-0 and Riswold 5-10.
Dells runners earned top finishes in the 1,600-meter relays with a time of 3:39.62 and the 400-meter relays with a time of 45.14.
The Quarriers pulled a few points from the triple jump after junior Brett Nichols took home the triple jump championship with 40-5.5 and Tanner Ljunggren third with 39-8.25.
Nichols also earned a third place finish in the long jump with a 19-5.75 mark.
Senior Bryce Koch took third in the shot with a toss of 44-6.5.
