Oral interp team hosts Quarrier Invitational

With a record number of schools and students in attendance, the sixth annual Quarrier Invitational for oral interp competition took over Dell Rapids High School Nov. 5.
Local adviser Sharon Mitchell said the invite serves as an ideal contest for her participants. “This is a great meet because of the timing,” she said. “It lands at a great time - right before oral interp teams head into districts and/or regions.”
With 18 schools participating in the hometown meet, Dell Rapids students walked away with several honors for the day.
Taiven Logan earned a superior rating in drama, Kendra Drew did the same in humorous and Jordan Stone brought home a superior in serious prose.
Rounding out the Dells team’s efforts were Logan and Melanie Wilke, who together earned a superior in duet acting.
Next up for the Dell Rapids team is the region meet Nov. 19 in Brookings.
