Dells, St. Mary send 12 to All-State Chorus
Quartets collaborate with S.D. singers

Among the quartets sent to the South Dakota All-State Chorus weekend, which culminated in an Oct. 27 concert at the Rapid City Civic Center, were three from the schools in Dell Rapids.
From St. Mary, Theresa Duffy, Rachel Scholten, Alex Eulberg and Matt Farmer represented. Duffy is additionally a four-year All-State Chorus award winner.
From Dells Public, two quartets, including one comprised of Jordan Stone, Nicole Rice, Ben Hinricher and Jackson Gleason, and one comprised of Darrian Grassi, Chelsey Huffman, Austen Hof and Dylan Damm, represented the school.
The former of the two quartets will additionally be performing at the state Class 11A football championship in Vermillion Nov. 9, at 7:30 p.m.
“I couldn’t have asked for a better group of students to take someplace,” Dells Rapids conductor Ginny Ziebarth said. “They are so nice! One of our quartets was spot-checked, and they passed.
“It’s always a stressful experience, but they did well. This year’s conductor was excellent, and the music was beautiful.”
Guest conductor Anna Hamre of the University of California – Fresno, directed the conglomerate South Dakota group, which performed selections “Festival Sanctus,” “David’s Lamentation,” “The Awakening” and a joint number with the All-State Orchestra, “Kyrie from Memorial.”
The concert will are on PBS at 1 p.m., on Thanksgiving Day.
