Cardinal volleyball 12-17 entering districts

The St. Mary Cardinal volleyball team moves to a 12-17 record for the season after the last regular-season match of the year, versus De Smet Oct. 22, left the girls with a 3-1 result.
Set scores of 25-23, 19-25, 18-25 and 17-25 handed the girls a loss heading into districts this week. By this time the girls will have played Colman-Egan Tuesday, with a winning results sending them to No. 1-seeded Chester in the second round.
Danielle Fiegen produced 16 digs for the squad during the De Smet match, while Lexie LeBrun racked up 23, Anna Maxwell 11, Tori Michel 10, Abby Siemonsma eight and Kelly Michel five.
Kelly Michel led the kill count, knocking down seven on the match, while Rachel Scholten connected with six and Ally Mullaney and Mikayla Brown each totaled four.
LeBrun led the girls in ace serves, with four, while Tori Michel and Siemonsma managed two apiece. Siemonsma and Tori Michel also each provided six assists, while Brown and Scholten each numbered three.
Rounding out the team’s efforts were Scholten and Brown’s trio of blocks, as well as Mullaney’s one block.
