Quarrier golfers land fourth in Class A play
Schroeder, LaCoursiere in top 25 at Spearfish state meet

After a regional win the week prior, the Dell Rapids Quarrier boys golf team took on competition at Spearfish Canyon Country Club Oct. 1-2, defending their state Class A title and closing out the fall season.
Once the two days of hitting the course were over, Lead-Deadwood rose to a first place finish by a wide margin, holding off Harrisburg’s team by a five-stroke margin. Lead-Deadwood’s team tallied 655 for the tournament, and Harrisburg ended up with 660.
Aberdeen Roncalli snatched the third-ranked spot in the meet, with a team 672, while Dell Rapids eked out a fourth place finish with 681 to Sioux Falls Christian’s 682 and Sisseton’s 683.
Leading off the individual rankings, senior Coleman Caldwell of Chamberlain finished first with 145, while senior Ryan Medhaug of Sisseton took second with 147.
Junior Zach Schroeder led the Dells efforts, taking 11th place overall and scoring 162 after a 77 the first day and 85 the second.
Senior Ted LaCoursiere made it into the top 25 for the meet, keeping in line with Aberdeen Roncalli’s Michael Duch with a 169. LaCoursiere golfed an 80 the first day and 89 the second.
The remaining three Dell Rapids golfers landed in the top 40 for the more than 100 boys competing in the Class A individual rankings. The Quarriers ended the season in consecutive ranks, with sophomore Devon Weber scoring 176 (89 and 87), sophomore Adam Karst 177 (86 and 91) and freshman Ty Hoglund 177 (87 and 90).
