Bulldogs hold Raiders to tight victory Friday

Gayville-Volin held onto the upper hand throughout the game, but the Baltic Bulldogs forced a tight victory for the host team during Friday night’s football match-up.
The Raiders kicked off the scoring for the night, posting a touchdown and conversion in the first quarter. And in a low-scoring first half, neither team rallied any points in the second quarter.
The Bulldogs battled back in the third quarter, keeping pace with the Raiders, who also picked up a touchdown, bringing the score to a Gayville-Volin 16-8 lead.
And despite a big point haul for Baltic in the fourth quarter, the home team took home the victory, posting a 30-24 win versus the Bulldogs.
Baltic’s record sits at 0-6 after the Friday night game.
Leading the defensive for the Bulldogs were Kyler Johnson and Josiah Aberson, who each tallied 14 tackles, while Tim Wilhelmsen (12), Austin Row (5) and Matt Hoiland (5) supporting.
Aberson brought Baltic all three of its touchdowns for the night, while he and Row added conversion points to the total.
The point leader also led the squad in receiving yardage, totaling 140, as well as four more in kickoff returns. Nick Weber received for 82 yards, as well as 22 yards in kickoff returns.
Johnson led the team in passing yards, with 18 completed attempts, while Row rushed for 26 yards and Johnson for 19.
Next up for Baltic is this Friday’s game at Howard High School.
