Cross Country: St. Mary sends four to Freeman

The Freeman Invite Sept. 13 brought four varsity runners from Dell Rapids St. Mary to compete versus nearly 20 schools attending the meet.
Parker’s Duane Jongeling took the top spot in the varsity boys lineup (17:26), propelling the school to the top spot in team totals. Dell Rapids St. Mary landed in fifth overall, with eight teams competing out of the 19 schools represented.
The Cardinals ran Mitch Roemen, who took 15th in the 48-wide field, with a final time of 19:36. The St. Mary squad also competed Ethan Schmidt (24th, 20:29) and Matt Farmer (28th, 21:10). In the varsity girls division, Gayville-Volin took top honors, while St. Mary did not compete in the team totals. The school’s sole runners was Anna Wolles, who placed 12th in the 56-wide field of competitors with a final time of 16:57.
