Bulldog squad starts Big East with win

The Bulldog volleyball players took on Chester early last week in a Tuesday night away match. The Baltic girls dropped the match 3-0.
“The girls are improving every match,” coach Matt Konz said. “We had some good rallies that came up short.”
The set scores were 15-25, 14-25 and 16-25, in favor of Chester. Allie Walter led Baltic with seven blocks and seven kills, while Morgan Forsch picked up nine kills and six digs for the Bulldogs. Abby Weinzetl rounded out the team’s efforts with 12 assists.
Sept. 6 brought the onset of the Big East Tournament, beginning with a first-round match versus Howard. The Baltic girls took the win with a 3-0 victory, achieved with set scores of 25-20, 25-18 and 25-23.
Walter brought the team eight kills on the round, as well as six blocks, while Forsch provided six digs and Weinzetl picked up six set assists.
Round two brought the girls Sioux Valley to compete, with a 3-0 loss for Baltic. The set scores proved tight for the Bulldog squad, 25-14, 25-20 and 25-22.
Forsch brought the Baltic team six kills, while Walter racked up three kills, four blocks and four digs. Jenna Brende picked up two kills and six digs off Sioux Valley, while Weinzetl provided six set assists.
The Big East Conference play continued on Saturday, as the girls again took on Chester, losing the match with set scores of 16-25, 8-25 and 13-25.
Weinzetl led the squad with four set assists and five digs, while Walter picked up eight blocks and four kills.
Forsch helped the cause with six kills and five digs on the match.
