With citywide elections approaching April 10, the Dell Rapids City Council and School Board have outlined their schedules for those interested in running for local offices.
School district business manager Barb Littel said that two seats on the board will be opening this election cycle. Both Brian Davis’s and Troy Randall’s seats will be up for a vote come April.
Board members run for three-year terms and must be within and voted upon by the Dell Rapids School District.
Littel said that petitions may be picked up at the district office at the high school starting Jan. 27. All petitions for board member positions must be returned to the district office by Feb. 24.
The business manager said that outlines of responsibilites and duties are available to interested candidates. These duties listed in the packet compiled by the Associated School Boards of South Dakota include open and honest communication, advocacy for students and maintaining fiscal responsibility.
A swearing-in will occur during the school board’s July meeting.
