DRSM struggles at tournament

Dell Rapids St. Mary dropped three matches in the Bridgewater-Emery Tournament on Saturday.
Tripp Delmont/Armour defeated Dell Rapids St. Mary, 25-12, 25-9.
Chelsey Brown had seven digs, three blocks, two kills. Mariah Mergen had one ace serve, four digs, and one kill. Whitney Michel had two digs, one kill, three assists. Danielle Kubly had five digs and three assists.
Bridgewater-Emery defeated Dell Rapids St. Mary, 25-18, 21-25 and 25-19.
Kubly had one ace serve, eight digs and five assists. Michel had 11 digs, four kills and 11 assists. Brown had two ace serves, 13 digs, two blocks and 11 kills. Brooke Wolles had five digs, six kills and one block.
The Cardinals ended up in eight place losing to Hanson in the seventh place match, 25-16, 25-7. Ethan won the team title by defeating Tripp Delmont/Armour.
Ally Brown had two ace serves, three digs and one kill. Brown had an ace serve and one kill. Kiley Wolles had one block, one kill and three digs.
Coach Tracy Herber said she felt like they had turned the corner at Deubrook. “I think they lost some momentum with the Elkton match,” she said. “When we started the tournament, there were a lot of serve receive errors. That continued throughout the tournament.”
Herber said you were amazed of how well the younger girls did stepping in during th tournament. “Chelsey Brown’s hit have been improving,” she said.
Earlier in the week, Elkton-Lake Benton won in three games, 25-21, 25-11, 25-15.
Whitney Michel had one ace serve, 11 digs and three kills and three assists. Danielle Kubly had one ace, nine digs and one kill and eight assists. Chesley Brown had seven digs, four kills. Mariah Mergen 3 ace serves, 8 digs, and 3 set assists.
